The Europe-Asia Research Institute - IREA was created on February 16, 1999 in a context where strong relations with Asia, and particularly China, were developing strongly. The creation of the IREA has provided an institutional framework for the development of collaborative actions undertaken towards Asia by Aix-Marseille University in the field of legal sciences.
A research project on Chinese law, in particular Chinese living law, has recently been set up and a group of researchers specializing in Chinese law has been created for this purpose. This research project is directed by a committee of directors composed of Mr. JIN Banggui, Mr. Yves DOLAIS and Mrs. Jane WILLEMS.
